UEFA 50th Anniversary Exhibition 2004
Europe’s governing body of football, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) celebrated its first fifty years with a celebratory exhibition in the European Parliament buildings in Brussels, Belgium.
The exhibition, which detailed the history of UEFA and European football, used Hugh Hornby & Mark Bushell's expertise to select and procure objects for display; select, deliver and construct the appropriate display cases for the exhibition and research and write all the object captions.
The team then moved the exhibition to the King Baudouin football stadium (formerly the Heysel stadium) in Brussels, where it was open to the public for two weeks, before it travelled to England where it was publicly displayed for three months.
Key objects used in the exhibition included: a Liverpool shirt worn in the 1984 European Cup final, a European Cup winners' medal from the 1968 Final between Manchester United and Benfica, the European Cup, the UEFA Cup and the European Championship trophy.
