World Football Exhibitions Saves Marriage
World Football Exhibitions, in partnership with Stagecoach UK Ltd, have stepped in to save the marriage of two Stagecoach employees. Allan and Marie Curran of Bootle, both lifelong Evertonians who have fallen out over the new Stagecoach Liverpool FC Champions of Champions branded buses.
Allan, 54, has been required to drive the Liverpool FC Buses all over Merseyside and has been given stick from friends and family, both Blues and Reds, for driving for the opposition. The situation is so serious that Marie, who works for Stagecoach in the staff canteen, has refused to serve Allan his usual breakfast before his shifts on the Liverpool Buses.
Speaking of the situation Allan said, ““If driving the buses wasn’t hard enough for me, now the missus is having a go. She’s a massive Evertonian, as are all the family, and she’s devastated that it looks as though I have changed my allegiances. According to her I should refuse to drive them on my shift. But if I do that I’ll get the sack. Everything’s got completely out of hand. They won’t even serve me in my local boozer.”
Mark Bushell, Football Historian, who’s idea it was to create the Liverpool FC buses, has been very concerned for his part in straining Allan and Marie’s relationship. Bushell said, “I’m devastated by the news that Alan is having matrimonial problems because of my idea. Like many people I’m frustrated by the amount of traffic on the roads not just on a match day, but also throughout the week. I just thought a great way of attracting people onto the buses was to make them more appealing to people. In my career I’m used to saving things, not destroying them, and I certainly don’t want to be responsible for ending a marriage.”
And to this end, World Football Exhibitions Designers have been busying themselves to design a brand new Everton FC branded bus to join the fleet. The designs were revealed to Allan and Marie and Allan has been given assurance by Stagecoach Management that, to save his marriage, he won’t be driving the Liverpool buses anymore and he will be the first person to drive the new Everton bus.
Les Burton, Operations Director of Stagecoach Merseyside, said “I can’t stand back and watch Alan and Marie’s lives fall apart. I have had an urgent meeting with all parties and we have decided to proceed with adding an Everton bus to the fleet. This decision reflects Stagecoach’s commitment to the people and passion of Merseyside, not least of all, to Allan and Marie”.
Speaking as the designs were unveiled, Marie Curran said, “These plans are fantastic – this is more like it. The Everton FC motto is “Nil Satis Nisi Optimum”, meaning "nothing but the best is good enough", the new Everton bus is certainly good enough for me and Alan, he might just get served his breakfasts as normal from now on – he might even get a cuddle!” Allan joined in, “Oh it’s great, what can I say, I’d be happy to drive this Bus without being paid for it! To drive the Everton bus will be an honour – and now I might event be able to get a pint in my local again!”.
