All You Need is Love!

The recently launched Everton Football Club branded Stagecoach Bus has healed wounds in a couple’s marriage – and it’s all down to World Football Exhibitions who caused the strain on the relationship in the first place!

Allan and Marie Curran, lifelong Evertonian’s had fallen out over Allan driving for the opposition when he had to drive the World Football Exhibitions produced Stagecoach Liverpool FC Champions of Champions bus on his shifts. Marie, who also works for Stagecoach in the staff canteen had taken the affront so seriously that she threatened Allan with divorce and even refused to serve his usual breakfasts after shifts on the Liverpool Bus. The situation got even worse though for Allan when they wouldn’t even serve him in his local when the news got out that he was driving for the reds!

The situation was so bizarre that even Sky Sports News got in on the action, dedicating a full report to the situation faced by Allan and Marie – the Posh and Becks of Bootle! – and the chances of a reconciliation between the two.

Not ones to stand by and watch a marriage fall apart, World Football Exhibitions and Stagecoach UK put our heads together and decided that the only way forward was to design and launch an Everton bus for both the blue half of Merseyside in general and for Allan and Marie in particular.

Mark Bushell, Managing Director of World Football Exhibitions said; “As a Football Historian and Curator, I’m much more used to saving things than destroying them. We all took the situation with Allan and Marie very seriously. I’m sure that with our partners Stagecoach and the help of Everton Football Club, we can all be pleased with this happy ending.”

Allan and Marie were present at the launching of the new Everton Bus at Goodison Park and got to meet their Everton heroes. Soccer Legends, Peter Reid, Kevin Ratcliffe, Graeme Sharp, Gordon West and Everton’s record-signing, Nigerian International Ayegbeni Yakubu who were all on hand to launch the bus and toast Allan and Marie’s happiness.

Speaking at the launch Allan said “well it’s fantastic isn’t it! I’m proud to be the first one to drive the Everton bus – I’ll be getting no more stick from the missus and my mates now. As for Marie?, she’s well made up that I’m driving for the Blues and not the Reds - she even got to meet the legends at the launch. Our marriage is as solid as a rock and I’m even getting my full English breakfast again in the canteens!”.
