Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
World Football Exhibitions are delighted to be supporting the UK Government’s RESPECT Campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour and its causes. In partnership with UK transport operator Stagecoach we have teamed-up with two of English Football’s biggest clubs and two of England’s greatest footballers to get out a very important message.
Liverpool Captain and England Vice-Captain Steven Gerrard and Everton and England Forward Andy Johnson are spearheading Stagecoach Merseyside’s response to the Respect Campaign and are aiming to tackle vandalism.
The two England Soccer Aces feel strongly about the importance of respect both inside and outside of the game, on and off the pitch, and – importantly - on our streets. The pair are featured in a series of World Football Exhibitions designed posters and billboards that are to be displayed on Stagecoach buses and bus stops throughout Merseyside and the North West of England.
Gerrard and Johnson are asking people to respect their bus services and have asked those who have been involved in vandalism in the past to: “Give respect to your local bus and to your local community. Don’t get involved in vandalism on your bus.”
The ‘Respect’ campaign was launched at the Your Choice Conference which took place at the Discovery Centre, Prenton, Wirral on Tuesday 30th October. The conference, aimed at Key Stage 2/3 students in Citizenship, provided 150 students with the opportunity to appreciate the full value of the emergency and public services and the role that they play in the community.
Helping to launch the campaign was Liverpool’s twice European Cup Winner Alan Kennedy along with former Everton captain, and European Cup Winners’ Cup winner, Kevin Ratcliffe. The Merseyside legends addressed the students about their experiences in behaving responsibly as young footballers in the community before posing for photographs and signing autographs.
