Dave Spikey and Father Christmas Join World Football Exhibitions at Christmas

World Football Exhibitions has been getting into the festive spirit in December with two special charitable visits to very worthy organisations.

First, on Tuesday 18th December, we were delighted to wish a Merry Christmas to staff and patients on the Children’s Floor of Royal Preston Hospital. Then on Thursday 20th December we made a very special trip to Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley, Lancashire (Registered Charity Number 1005165).

World Football Exhibitions staff were accompanied on these visits by two very special guests. We were joined by Father Christmas, who was of course very busy at this time of year and was delighted to meet the children and help us distribute presents. Alongside Father Christmas was renowned North West Comedian Dave Spikey – star, writer and presenter of Channel 4’s ‘Phoenix Nights’ and ‘8 out of 10 Cats’ among others. Speaking at Derian House, Dave said that the visit was “without doubt the highlight of my Christmas so far”.

Our two special guests were on hand to wish a very Merry Christmas and a happy and, importantly, healthy New Year to the poorly children unfortunate enough to be away from their family homes this Christmas.

Along with our partners Stagecoach North West, who provided transportation for all on the specially-commissioned Rudolph Christmas Bus, and Toymaster, who helped provide the presents, World Football Exhibitions were delighted to donate hundreds of toys and games for children staying at the Royal Preston Hospital and Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Susie Poppett, Fundraising Manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “Christmas for Derian House families is very different to other families due to the nature of our children’s illnesses. Gestures such as this donation of toys and the children getting to meet Father Christmas and Dave Spikey make such a difference to the children and their families.”

World Football Exhibitions’ Events Manager, Anthony Howarth, announced, “I’m delighted that we have been able to arrange these very special visits over the festive period. I would like to particularly thank Father Christmas and Dave Spikey for taking time out of their busy schedules to help us. I would also like to thank our partners Stagecoach North West, Toymaster and Pete Lucas Photography for their help on this important project. These visits have been superb and really go to show what this special time of year is all about, the season of kindness, charity and goodwill.”

World Football Exhibitions would like to wish a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all.
