European Champions League Trophy Helps Raise Much Needed Cash For Former Players

Vue Cinemas, located on the Reebok retail complex in Horwich, Bolton,
will play host to the European Champions League trophy as part of a Charity screening of the new Hollywood film GOAL 2, on Thursday 8th February,
at 6.30pm.

The screening, which will be attended by a number of as yet undisclosed former greats, will help raise much needed funds for the Former Players’ Associations of Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City.

The screening has been organised as part of the build up to the World Football Exhibitions event “An Audience With The Soccer Legends” that will take place at the end of March, in the Premier Suite, at the Reebok Stadium.

Both events are the brainchild of the National Football Museum’s founding curator, Mark Bushell who now runs World Football Exhibitions.

He said: “The Premier of GOAL is a great opportunity to not only see the film but also see the European Champions League trophy up close and personal. If ticket holders bring their own camera to the screening they will also be able to have their picture taken with one of the world’s most famous trophies.”

Sharon Harris, General Manager for Vue Cinemas is delighted to be welcoming the trophy to the site: “It’s terrific that we can help former players in this way. The film highlights the meteoric rise of one particular player but for every footballer who has made a fortune from the game there are many hundreds who haven’t.”

As a tribute to the silver screen the World Football Exhibitions team will also be disclosing the favourite films and actors/actresses of all those attending the “Audience With The Soccer Legends” event, which will no doubt make for interesting reading.

The film kicks off at 7.00pm but ticket holders are advised to arrive from 6.00pm to avoid disappointment. This will also ensure that as many people as possible get the chance to have their photograph taken with the Champions League trophy, which has been kindly loaned for the evening by Liverpool FC Museum and Tour Centre.

Tickets are priced £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for children and includes a champagne reception with soft drinks available for children.
